Noise, dust and fume control in manufacturing for employee safety
Over the past two decades, Bailey of Bristol, a leading caravan and motorhome manufacturer, has invested significantly in its production facility, which is now recognised as one of the most advanced in Europe. When the company purchased new CNC (Computer Numerical Control) machines, they needed an industrial partition wall that would help to control noise levels for employees working nearby.
The building itself added complexity to the project, featuring high-level radiant tube heating, sprinkler pipework, lighting, and trunking, all of which required a solution which would create a tight seal to minimise noise and dust.
Partition designed to fit a complex industrial space
Westgate Global’s Flexiwall emerged as the ideal solution to address Bailey of Bristol’s unique set of challenges. Designed to adapt to the site’s specific needs, the Flexiwall system was manufactured in Bailey of Bristol’s brand colours and included a pedestrian door and vision panels, ensuring both accessibility and visibility between the two spaces.
Unlike traditional rigid walls, Flexiwall was custom-designed to match the exact height and length of the space, making it uniquely suited to the demands of a large industrial environment. The wall’s flexibility allowed it to accommodate the existing infrastructure without requiring any structural modifications to the building.
High noise levels in industrial settings are a major, often overlooked safety hazard that can cause permanent hearing damage, increase stress, and lead to workplace accidents. Using Flexiwall effectively reduced noise levels, creating a quieter and more comfortable workspace for employees outside the CNC equipment area.
