Westgate Global appoints Tim Carson as Chief Operating Officer to drive international growth

Westgate Global, leading screening and partitioning specialist, has announced the appointment of Tim Carson to the new role of Chief Operating Officer. Tim will work closely with Murray Gates, CEO, and Stephen Murray, CFO, forming a senior leadership trio focused on scaling Westgate Global's operations while protecting the quality and customer focus that have underpinned its success to date.

The news comes alongside a brand update which reflects the company's evolution and its ambitions to establish itself as a truly world-class international business.

Established in the UK in 1977, the company now operates across more than 20 sites per week in multiple countries, including the UK, USA and Europe, and has ambitious plans to solidify its position as a global market leader in weathering protection and dust containment screens for mission-critical construction projects, industrial factory and warehouse partitioning and screening.

The value of client-side experience

Tim brings over 20 years of construction and fit-out industry experience to the role. Over his six years at Westgate Global, he has progressed from Senior Project Manager to Head of Projects and then to Head of Operations. Before joining the business, he spent 15 years at major construction contractor, gaining client-side experience that has shaped the way Westgate Global approaches client relationships today.

"Having been on the other side of the fence, I know from experience how many moving parts there are on a busy construction site," Tim explains."Clients working on large, time-critical projects need partners they can absolutely depend on and who take their challenges as seriously as they do. That understanding has shaped everything we do."

Operational excellence

That commitment to dependability is reflected in the company's 97% on-time, in-full (OTIF) rate for installation projects.

"We don’t just supply and install products,” Tim explains. “Our clients see us as part of their team, and they trust us to deliver accordingly. We take that responsibility very seriously. We do what we say we're going to do, which is why so much of our work comes from long term clients who trust us to de-risk their worksites and to protect their momentum."

The COO role has been created specifically to ensure that operational excellence and customer focus remain central to decision-making as Westgate Global expands. While Murray Gates leads overall strategy and business development as CEO, Tim will be responsible for implementing the strategy and ensuring the quality of delivery and the client journey are never compromised in the pursuit of growth.

Speaking about the new appointment, CEO Murray Gates commented:

“As a business, we work in complex, time-critical environments and our job is to keep them moving, safely and without disruption. We protect people, places and progress, and that requires exceptional leadership at every level. Tim's appointment as COO reflects not just his experience, but his understanding of what our clients need and why it matters. I have every confidence in his ability to lead us through the next phase of our growth."

Strengthening the team: a new preconstruction team

To support the company’s growth ambitions, Reuben Harrington, previously Head of Products and Compliance, has been appointed to the newly defined role of Head of Preconstruction. By bringing preconstruction expertise to the front of the client journey, the team will be instrumental in ensuring that the right solutions are identified and scoped from the outset, reducing risk, improving program certainty, and setting projects up for success.

Building a global presence

It is this collaborative approach that has helped drive repeat business of over 50% and enabled the company to follow existing clients into new international markets, before winning new customers in those territories. In Germany, the business has established a dedicated base with a growing local team, positioned to serve both existing European clients and new customers across the continent. In the USA, Westgate Global has made significant inroads into the market, building a presence and winning large-scale protection projects. Both operations represent a long-term investment in the people, premises, and processes needed to globally replicate the standards on which the business has built its reputation.

"We have built a business that is recognized for operational excellence and high-quality solutions," Tim adds. "The next step is to drive growth internationally, while maintaining the quality and service that our clients have come to expect. I'm excited to work alongside Murray, Stephen, and the wider senior leadership team to take the business to the next level."
